Barbara Malloy | Co-President
One of the original founders of the Memphremagog Historical Society of Newport, Barbara is the author of two Northeast Kingdom history books, as well as an upcoming biography of Chester Arthur. Barbara has a decades-long commitment to and love for local history, and is the patent owner of Memphre, the lake monster.

Samantha Stacy | Co-President
Samantha is a seventh generation Vermonter who landed in Newport the summer of 2022. She works for the North Country Supervisory Union Community Schools office and has a passion for connecting young people with place through historical storytelling.

Kathleene Marcil | Treasurer
Kathleene embodies true Vermont values as an avid recreationalist across our beautiful waters. In her free time, she supports long distance swimmers as their kayak support, boats with family and friends, and scouts for Memphre.

Rick Ufford-Chase | Secretary
Rick is the Community Engagement Specialist for Newport Downtown Development and works tirelessly to support the revitalization of our city. He proposed the reinstatement of the MHSON and brought our team together.

Kyle Chadburn | Board Member
Kyle has lived in the greater Newport community all his life, and has a passion for local and global history, which translated to being a middle school social studies teacher for twelve years before taking on his current role in the school system as the Access & Opportunities Coordinator for the Orleans Central Supervisory Union.

Nancy Pepin-Vogt | Board Member
Nancy is a retired teacher of history, English and writing. She grew up in Newport and remembers when the downtown thrived and bustled with activity. Using her love of history, she now works to see Newport grow and thrive again.

Markus Vogt | Board Member
Markus is a semi-retired educator. He manages the Tutorial Program for Northeast Kingdom Learning Services. He lives in Newport and enjoys all the outdoor activities that the city has to offer.
